The one thing I take back

Reorganising and re-classifying some old posts has made me realise there actually is one thing that I take back when it comes to things I said I refuse to deal with as a parent: strollers.

It's not that I gave up on baby carriers in fact, I have a whole collection of baby carriers. We did find out something very important about our first child that I did not count on: he didn't like most of his baby carriers.

Was I surprised? Yes. I was very much surprised by the fact.

Month Two: For better and worse

The frantic cries are now accompanied by salty little waterfalls and when that happens it feels like we can't respond fast enough.

But most times he is content, regarding his surroundings with what seems a contemplative silence. Other times we are rewarded with cheery gurgles, his goat-like laughter, and a toothless grin.

My blog is my therapist

If I'm to be completely honest with myself, that is actually true.

I'm not limiting the idea to lying down on a couch and talking forever, mind--though I know I do tend to ramble in my entries when I'm not talking about anything too specific.

That said, seeing my blog as anything therapeutic was hardly the thing on my mind when I first started.

Ireland 2012, Part 6: The Fil-Irish Wedding

I have so few photos to share for the wedding day mainly because I was actually participating and not just a guest, harhar. Also, there are usually fewer photos when my husband has the camera. He's really not that kind of artist.

I love you anyway, darling. :D

I don't know why but I get so much more emotional with other people's weddings. I didn't cry a single tear at mine, much to our photographer's dismay--and likely to our make-up artist's relief. (LOL!) But I cried at both of my best friends' weddings, especially at this one, the one that happened in Ireland, because if you track back on all the entries labelled Ireland 2012, you'll see the kind of stress that my best friend (and really, everyone else involved) went through.

Ireland 2012, Part 5: Dubliners in Howth

For those who wish to keep track, we are now on Day 3 of our trip. The day is Monday, 9 April 2012, the day before my best friend's big day. Since her wedding would be the following day, Monday was her day to rest and this left the rest of us with a whole day to explore on our own.

Or so my husband and I thought.

Ireland 2012, Part 4: Dubliners Day 2--Indoor Picnic

Now, why I didn't think to take a photo of our breakfast spread I can't really say. The main thing I was happiest about, to be honest, was the presence of a bowl of Weetabix at the buffet table, something I haven't eaten for nearly twenty years but remember so well as one of the best breakfast items I'd ever had. Ever.

Ah but aside from the buffet, there was an option for a fuller meal of cold cereal and warm food.

Ireland 2012, Part 3: Dubliners Day 1

NOTE: "Dubliners" is not only a reference to those living or born there but also to a collection of short stories by James Joyce which is the selection for the April 2012 One City, One Book, and the reason for the couple's Joycean theme.

Okay, calling it a "day" is a bit of a lie because we arrived at around 10:00am and by the time we got to our hotel, it was nearly lunch. But I shall call it a day anyway.

Ireland 2012, Part 2: The Flight

In all my travels I had never before encountered an itinerary such as this:

But yes, that is the itinerary that my husband and I got when we booked our flight to Dublin.

Ireland 2012, Part 1: The Journey

Of course we will begin where we ought. No, not with the drive to the airport, but with obtaining the visa.

I mentioned before that we made the plans to fly to Ireland to attend a wedding. It is actually the union of my best friend to her beloved which was also quite the journey spanning Japan, the Philippines, Ireland, and many others in between.

When the going gets tough

Life offline has been so crazy that I've neglected both my daily blogging and my daily photos. I'm still taking them, the photos, but I just don't have the luxury of being able to sit at my PC to edit. *sigh* The frustration, oh the frustration.

72 hours of my life just went into pouring all that I can into proving that I have no intention of pretending to be a tourist only to emerge with a job and a green card. Or whatever it's called. This is unbelievably sad and pathetic because this portion of my application problems--there are others--is not because I have a bad travel track record but because other Filipinos have set a precedent that fuels the suspicion.
