February Photo a Day Challenge

This is my first time participating in a photo challenge and though I'm two days late and this is my first post, I'm actually quite stoked. If you would like to participate, the link to the challenge is here.

I only started today but I've also taken pictures to kind of backtrack to the days that I missed. ^.^

So here we go. Enjoy!

Day #1: My View
Since I'm doing this somewhat retrospectively, my view is a reminder of what this month's challenge consists of.

Day #2: Words
I was fixing some documents this morning and came across this bit of paper listing the cost for rending venues in Intramuros. The third venue listed, Casa Blanca, is where we had our wedding reception.

Day #3: Hands
I took a picture of my own hand as a kind of "matter of pride" thing of mine. You see, I just finished laundering a week's worth of clothes which completely destroyed my nail polish. But I'm not upset at all because it shows that I've just completed a task that is part and parcel of caring for my family.

Day #4: A Stranger
Strictly speaking, Fleur is no stranger to me. I have seen her lying around the shelter office practically each time that I come in to visit or volunteer. However, the Fleur in this photo is very different. Today we were actually able to take portraits with her! Such a milestone for us volunteers because Fleur can normally give the worst curmudgeons a run for their money. So yes, in a way, she was a stranger today.

Day #5: 10:00am
This is my 10:00am. I am in the home office, shredding old documents. Yes, I know it's a Sunday. It is also one of the few moments I have to do what I am doing.

Day #6: Dinner
When I thought about this topic my knee-jerk reaction was "Oh no, not another food entry!" But then this evening, I realised, it doesn't have to be "dinner" food now does it? So this is is my #6 photo: demi lashes from Etude House.
I was very upset during dinner because of some technical stuff--my husband and I bought an mp3 transmitter thing that apparently is useless for iPods and since it was working just fine, we couldn't exchange it for another item--and I began ranting that the false lashes I wanted cost about the same as the worthless transmitter. And so, when we popped into Etude House after having our meal, my husband surprised me by purchasing the false lashes I wanted for me. *melts*

Day #7: Button
Other than being pretty, this jar of buttons also holds up some of the pens on my desk.

Day #8: Sun
This is one of the reasons why I am so grateful for the work that I do despite all the drama it entails. It wasn't the best time to go swimming (it was far too cold) but the view was beautiful. And yes, that is direct sunlight you see in the upper right corner. ^_~

Day #9: Front Door
I want to say that this is the front door of the hotel we stayed at but actually, our camp site was about twenty feet away from the hotel.

Day #10: Self-portrait
This is me as I waited at the other end of the zip line for everyone else to finish their turn. No, I didn't want to go down the zip line. I was just as thrilled to see all of them have a go though.

Day #11: Makes me happy
One of the first signs of summer, in my opinion. A nice, sweet, red, juicy watermelon definitely speaks of pure happiness.

Unfortunately I was only able to sustain eleven consecutive shooting days. *sigh* But the March challenge is up and I will keep trying until I can complete a full 365 days of daily photos. Optimistically, 47% or so completion isn't so bad for a first try, I think.
