Safe and Sound from "The Hunger Games" movie

There are very few books I read that my husband enjoys and very few that he reads that I enjoy. The Harry Potter series was one of them and perhaps a little bit of The Lord of the Rings.

The truth is that the only reading material we can bond over are my women's magazines--I usually end up asking him things stated in articles written for women about men and how true or not they are for him.

That was until we finally gave in, jumped on yet another bandwagon, and bought The Hunger Games.

Oh The Hunger Games. I haven't fallen for something so haunting since My Sweet Audrina by V.C. Andrews.

No one jump on me with protests on how The Hunger Games is based on Battle Royale, please. I don't really care how different or similar they are. I've already read one argument pointing out the similarities and differences and that's more than enough already,  honestly.

Anyway, song. I had this on loop for about half an hour, learning it. I was a fan of her music before but now I think I can honestly say I am a fan of Taylor Swift. Chameleon, this girl. This doesn't sound like her usual run of music at all.

The words:

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go,"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone,"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes, the sun is going down
You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window
Darling, everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

Just close your eyes, the sun is going down
You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Just close your eyes, the sun is going down
You'll be alright,
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

No need to be a fan of the series to appreciate how haunting the melody and the words are.
