The June Subject List

Reposting this to my blog so I don't forget. I shan't aim to make a separate page for this for now; I'll just keep photo blogging them until I get to the end and then I'll compile everything to a page.

De-cluttering 101

Two days ago, my husband accused me of being a pack rat. This is something that I will not deny because everyone knows this about me.

Of course, at this stage in life, one has to let go of those old toys from twenty-something years ago that really, I'm sure my kids will not appreciate. And those old bits and pieces of paper with my crush's name written on it in multi-coloured markers.

So I'm back to that point again.

I thought I could handle it but apparently I was wrong.

I'd aimed to move all my existing blogs to Blogger so I could work on all of them simultaneously but the energy to keep up with the reposts from my old cosmetics blog and update it here on Blogger has failed since my return from Ireland.

fat mum slim: Photo a day June challenge list!: It's almost June and I'm surprised I actually haven't had people banging on my front door asking for the list. Everywhere I turn online p...

Oh look! It's Chantelle's Photo a Day Challenge list! Am I going to try it out again this month?

In a word, yes. I'm going to keep trying to do this until I manage to complete a full month.

Crossing my fingers, eyes, and toes that I'll get past the halfway mark. And post it all too.

Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle #3: Altoids Tin

This is an old Altoids tin. I just covered the top with a little piece of wrapping paper and now I have a pretty little medicine case, yay!

I remembered seeing someone do this on Pinterest and when I found an old Altoids tin whilst fixing up my junk I thought I'd give it a shot.

Recycling happiness, yes.

Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle #2: Putting things back together.

It's not the prettiest thing in the world right now but I'm proud as heck of it.

Finally finished my recycled file box, just need to wrap it up in pretty paper but I wanted to document it as it looks now: a cut up Friskies box. MUCH wider than any average file box I've seen around.

I'll be filling it up with some files anyway, just to get the organising and disposals on the way but I'll come back to this and wrap it up once I've found enough wrapping paper. This ought to help me keep everything handy.

The home office is starting to look like an office again and hopefully this is a sign that I'm starting to get my head wrapped around life again.

As seen on Tumblr

The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really
are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your
sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in
exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale
revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an
individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.

* It seems that kiwikira321 deactivated her blog back in 30 October 2013. As of the moment of posting, I do not know why since I've been mostly absent from the blog circuit for the past two years.

Guest Post!

No, not here, but on our wedding photographer and friend, Noel Salazar's blog! It made me giggle so much I just had to share. :3

For a bit of background, Noel is a photographer for Imagine Nation Photography. I've written about him and a little bit of why he was such a blessing to our wedding in this post. He and his fiancée, Rae Venturanza, have become friends of ours since and among the things that stuck with me during our trip to Ireland is Noel's love for the colour orange and his weekly (whenever he's not too busy, hahaha) Orange Thursdays posts. Every time I saw something orange I was reminded of him and I took the photos he posted with him in mind. (I also sent Rae some flowers--she loves sunflowers but it wasn't the time for sunflowers if they even grow in Ireland, but the sunny yellow flowers we saw during our cliff walk reminded me of her so I took photos of those and sent them over.)

Anyway, Orange Thursdays.

See? Heehee.

You might recognise the flowers from a previous Ireland 2012 post. I believe I posted a different angle of the same bunch of flowers.

Lately I've been grilling Noel about pro photography equipment. I've decided I really want to take my photography seriously and take it a step up to the professional level so I'm working on saving up for the necessary equipment so I can begin my training. Guess where? LOL

So, yes. It makes me all nice and giggly to have my photo up on his blog alongside his pro work and other guest Orange Thursday photos. I'm already learning bits and pieces from studying how my pro friends do their thing so I can't wait to have my shot at it too.

(Ha, get it? Shot?)

IFTTT Task #1: Check!

Okay, this time Blogger and Tumblr didn't bounce my posts back and forth anymore which is good and makes me happy. This means my Tumblr account will be active again and will reflect anything I post here. Now to get my Tumblog to kind of match my theme here on Blogger. Then it's on to Tumblr posting to Twitter. FTW. :D

Now reading...

I started reading this today, just really wanted to share. It's one of my favourite treasures from Ireland and I was so excited to see it on the shelf, especially since Alison Weir is one of my favourite writers.

It's a little bit of a detour from my Tudor readings but right now I'm also working on The Lady in the Tower which is about Anne Boleyn.

Book happiness!

Blog Maintenance #4: Flooded!

Crackers! In my attempt to consolidate things I ended up putting together commands that triggered multiple entries.

I am horrified and amused all at once. I am also slowly deleting posts that should not have been reposted. XD Oh dear.

Ireland 2012, Part 5: Dubliners in Howth

For those who wish to keep track, we are now on Day 3 of our trip. The day is Monday, 9 April 2012, the day before my best friend's big day. Since her wedding would be the following day, Monday was her day to rest and this left the rest of us with a whole day to explore on our own.

Or so my husband and I thought.

Ireland 2012, Part 4: Dubliners Day 2--Indoor Picnic

Now, why I didn't think to take a photo of our breakfast spread I can't really say. The main thing I was happiest about, to be honest, was the presence of a bowl of Weetabix at the buffet table, something I haven't eaten for nearly twenty years but remember so well as one of the best breakfast items I'd ever had. Ever.

Ah but aside from the buffet, there was an option for a fuller meal of cold cereal and warm food.

Pet Mom Pride

Shamelessly plugging my cat's entry for the Bow & Wow Next Pet Model. :D

If you have a Facebook account, please click on the link above and like his photo! If he wins, he will win a 1-year supply of food and treats from Bow & Wow, and become a brand spokespet for PAWS, a local animal shelter where I volunteer and which he called home for at least five years of his life before we adopted him.

If you decide to vote for him, please don't forget to spread the word!

This is my Kazuhiko's contest entry.
